The Crops and Soils program consists of Extension educators and specialists who provide research-based agronomic information and decision-making tools to farmers and farm advisors. We work to help Wisconsin farmers improve the success of their cropping systems by providing research-based information for profitability and success.

Soil Sampling

Lawn & Garden Samples
Submission Form
Sampling Lawns and Gardens (A2166)
Applications: Home lawns, home vegetable and flower gardens, non-commercial fruit crops, landscape trees and shrubs.
Standard Analysis:$30 per sample. Includes soil pH, organic matter %, phosphorus and potassium.
Includes lime and fertilizer recommendations.
Optional: | Soluble Salts: $8 per sample| Physical Analysis (USDA percent sand, silt, and clay): $25 per sample | Calcium and Magnesium $5 per sample
Lead testing is also available for $42 per sample.

USDA Soil Survey to Determine Soil Map Units | Soil map units and mukey
Routine Analysis: $11 per sample. Includes pH, lime requirement, organic matter, phosphorus, potassium, and nutrient recommendations.
Optional ($ per sample): Calcium + Magnesium ($5) | Boron ($5) | Zinc ($5) | Manganese ($5) | Sulfur-Sulfate ($5)
