Project Learning Day

Project Learning Day is a countywide 4-H Event where 4-H members, leaders and parents are welcome to take a class on various topics. This is an educational event that kids and parents can learn many new things – from animals to sewing and many other projects. Project Learning Day is scheduled for March 2 at Rockwell Elementary School in Fort Atkinson from 9-1:30 pm. Below is a descriptions of the classes that are being offered as well as a schedule for the day. The schedule also lists the class instructor as well as the cost of the class. REGISTER HERE! 

Class Descriptions:

  • Rocketry: Introduction to the Rocketry project. Student will build a foam rocket to bring home and we will discuss the basics of rocketry and upcoming rocketry projects. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Learn to Knit: This class teaches the basics knit stitch, with a goal of completing a small potholder. (Any Age)
  • Rabbits: Learn How to take care of your rabbit. How to handle and what to feed your rabbit. How to make a cage. (Any Age)
  • Fun with Creative Writing: Bring out your Inner Storyteller: Fun and easy ways to get started writing. Bring paper and pencil. (Any Age)
  • Apron or Tool Belt: We will be making an apron or tool belt to match your needs. Please bring a quarter yard of your favorite fabric. (Ages 8 and up)
  • Chapstick Holder: We will be making an easy chapstick holder. Please bring a quarter yard of your favorite fabric. (Ages 8 and up)
  • Double Sided Head Band: We will be making a double sided head band to match your personality. Please bring a quarter yard of fabric. (Ages 8 and up)
  • Improve Your Photography with Any Camera: In this class we will discuss easy to implement tips to improve your photography eye with any camera. You are welcome to bring your camera to this class, though it is not necessary. You are also welcome to bring images you would like to share with the class. (Ages 8 and up)
  • Focus: In this presentation we will discuss the topic of focus and troubles that arise when trying to attain sharper focus. Members are encouraged to bring the camera that they typically photograph with. (Ages 8 and up)
  • Munch-a-Bunch Garden Bed: Plan a garden that grows fruits and veggies you can pick and eat. Make a seed tape for your garden. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Rocks, Rocks, Rocks: Learn about the three types of rocks and how to identify them. Make an ID Rock Chart with sample rocks to represent each type. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Tracks … Who goes there?: Be a detective and learn to identify who made tracks in the snow or mud. Make a matching  game (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Houseplants to Wild (Native) Plants: Learn to identify plants by where they may grow. Start a plant to take home or for your plant project. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Food Dehydration: Learn different ways to dehydrate food and what can be dehydrated taste some interesting food. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Jelly Making: Learn how to make jelly. What steps are needed to can jelly. You will also take home a jar of jelly. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Handprint Fish Puppets: Learn how to make paper fish puppet. (Any Age)
  • Dream Catchers: Learn how to make simple dream catchers. (Any Age)
  • Painting a Barn Quilt: Learn how to how to layout, tape and paint for a barn quilt. (Any Age)
  • Making a Dog Toy: Learn how to make a simple dog toy. (Any Age)
  • DIY Plant Succulents: Students will hand sew and stuff a felt planter and succulents. (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
  • Know Your Swine: Learn about pigs and the 4-H swine project. (Any Age)
  • Beginning and Intermediate Cake Decorating: (Any Age – Under 9 with an Adult)
