Astronomy

It’s all about the sky. Learn what the constellations are, observe the stars, and understand who the people are who taught the world about the mythology of the sky
Birds

Birdwatching skills are skills that last a lifetime. Be the hit of a family hike, a walk to the store with friends or simply relax in your backyard and wait for these beautiful creatures to appear.
Conservation

The Conservation project includes weather and climate, water science, recycling, exploring your environment, and more. Get involved to learn about the natural world and how to help protect it! This project area includes topics such as weather and climate, exploring your environment, water (aquatic) science, and recycling.
Entomology (Insects)

Insects (including bees) are everywhere! Learn about different types of insects, the largest group of animals on earth, and why they are essential in our natural world. This project is your chance to collect, study, and display insects you find and learn about forensic entomology.
General Natural Sciences*

This project is highly flexible and can be tailored to the specific interests of members. Monthly project topics also vary in order to address many topics throughout the year. Environmental & Outdoor Education topic areas include Beekeeping, Birds, Insects, Fishing, Forestry, Wildflowers, Hunting & Wildlife, Adventures, and Environmental projects. Plants & Soils topics include these project areas–crops, vegetables, flowers, house plants and plant crafts.
Geology

Have you ever found a rock or fossil at a park and wanted to know what it was? Discover the types of minerals, rocks, and fossils found in Wisconsin. Dig into the Geology project!
Maple Syrup

Participants will learn about forest management, tapping trees, transporting sap, using an evaporator, grading and storing syrup, and operating a maple sugaring business.
Outdoor Recreation

Let’s get active outdoors! This project is for anyone who likes outdoor adventures, from hiking to biking, camping to skiing, and more. The sky is the limit, and adventures are waiting for you!
Safety

The purpose of this project resource guide is to help support your learning within the safety project area. It provides step-by-step suggestions on how to get started and how to continue learning within the project area.
Shooting Sports*

Shooting sports is a great life skill to learn at a young age. With 4-H shooting sports the kids will learn the basic fundamentals of safety, awareness, posture, eye dominance, accuracy vs consistent grouping and much more. We want the kids to enjoy shooting sports along with knowing the responsibilities there is to shooting this type of equipment.
Taxidermy

Taxidermy projects provide hands-on education in preserving wildlife, combining artistic creativity with biological knowledge. Youth learn to prepare, mount, and display specimens while focusing on safety, ethics, and conservation, often creating displays that make mounted animals look alive.
Wildflowers

Wildflower projects allow youth to explore nature, botany, and horticulture through hands-on activities like growing native plants, identifying local prairie or woodland species, and creating floral arrangements.
Wildlife & Forestry (WHEP & Forestry)

In this project area, you will learn about the different types of wildlife groups, their habitat needs, conservation, and interactions between humans and wildlife.
