On July 20th, the State 4-H Livestock Judging contest was held in Lodi. Jefferson County 4-H had two senior teams and one junior team that were invited to compete in the state contest by their placings in the Area Animal Science Days contest in Clark County in June.
The senior team of Aiden Mindemann, Elliott Small, Keilah Reu, and Cheyenne Pautz placed first overall in the senior division. The team placed first in reasons, second in beef, sheep, swine, goat judging. Individually- Aiden Mindemann placed 3rd overall, 4th in beef, 3rd in sheep, 2nd in reasons. Elliott Small placed 5th overall, 1st in goat, 5th in beef, 8th in reasons, Keilah Reu placed 8th overall, 1st in swine, 6th in reasons. Cheyenne Pautz placed 12th overall, 4th in goat. The team will compete in the Arksarben Livestock judging contest in September.
The senior team of Gabe Mindemann, Gracelynn Dolph, Aubrey Beauchamp, and Olivia Dolph placed third overall in the senior division. The team placed first in beef and goats, third in swine, fourth in sheep and reasons. Individually-Gabe Mindemann placed 4th overall, 1st in beef, 3rd in reasons, 8th goats. Gracelynn Dolph placed 6th overall, 6th in swine, 8th in goats. Aubrey Beauchamp placed 4th in swine. Olivia Dolph placed 1st in goats. The team will compete in the American Royal Livestock judging contest in October in Kansas City. This is the first time that two senior teams from Jefferson County have qualified for a national judging contest in the same year.
The Junior team of Nate Flood, Fynnley Gefvert, Pyper Gefvert, and Mallory Gefvert placed second overall in the junior division. The team placed second in beef and swine, 4th in sheep and reasons. Individually- Nate Flood placed 7th overall, 3rd in beef, 4th in swine, 7th in sheep. Fynnley Gefvert placed 11th overall, 10th in swine. Pyper Gefvert placed 14th overall. Mallory Gefvert placed 11th in goats.
